Elf Week 2012

Hello all!  Our Elf, Chokee Nokee visited in early December.  We had a blast with her as always.  We began this tradition a couple of years ago, when Elf on the Shelf first came out.  I had no idea that Elf on the Shelf would become the massive sensation it has grown into over the last couple of years (with such strict rules as no touching under any circumstances), and as a result we have a lovely plush, female elf.  Our elf is special, because we can touch her, snuggle with her, and play with her all we want, and she never loses her magic like those plastic elves do!  We give her crackers and water to eat each night (well, the ones we remember, anyway); Chokee Nokee is a trooper and didn't complain at all that it took us 3 days to remember to feed her!  I didn't get pictures of everything she did, but I got a few, so here are the highlights from our week with Chokee Nokee.

She was waiting for us via Barbie car, and she brought gifts this year!

As mentioned before, Mommy needed some help getting ornaments for the girls.  Christa got 2 ornaments - a Coke can and a plastic Hershey bar, since she loves junk food so much.  Abby Kate got a ballerina dress on a hanger since she loves to dress up, and especially loves to dress like a ballerina.  Elizabeth got a 2nd Christmas ornament from Hallmark, that the elf was able to find, since she's not restricted by things like not having the store close by to her :)

It didn't take Chokee Nokee long to cause mischief.  She replaced our stockings with our underwear!  Silly Elf!

She also decided she wanted to ride to school with us, so she buckled herself into Elizabeth's car seat, and made herself comfy with some goldfish crackers and water.  This might have been her first hint that we needed to feed her :)

Abby Kate wanted to bring her for Show-and-Tell, so to school she went!

She snuggled with Abby Kate during a nap, then crawled into bed with both girls in the middle of the night.

The girls had some questions this year, so we left notes for Chokee Nokee to answer for us.  For example, they wanted to know how she got up onto the mantle to hang the underwear.  Chokee Nokee answered that it was "elf magic" and that Santa had sprinkled some of his special dust that make the reindeer fly before she left.  She even signed it with a silver snowflake seal, so we knew that it was really her answering!

Chokee Nokee also decorated the outside with lights as she did last year.  We thought she had left for the North Pole at the end of the week, but Christa found her hiding behind a pillow in the bassinet we still have in our room.  Silly Chokee Nokee!  She left a note the next night explaining that she'd started to leave, but saw that we didn't have enough lights outside, so she added some more for us.  She did quite a great job, and if I remember, I'll take a picture of them tonight to post.  Then she left FOR REAL, and we busily prepared for Christmas.
