Hello all! Here are a couple of belated Father's Day pictures that I finally got to download. I just noticed that in the bottom picture, especially, Christa doesn't even look like a baby anymore. Wow. Everyone is right - the time goes by fast! She's been in quite the mood the past couple of days - very fussy and clingy. To make matters worse, I am one of *those* parents who can't discipline her child because she thinks every single thing her kid does is the most adorable thing ever accomplished. I try to be firm, and Christa laughs at me, so I can't resist smiling back at her. I'm in trouble!
We are winding things down here. I'm starting to see light at the end of the tunnel. Ten days from now, somehow, my house will be packed, the truck will be loaded, Christa's birthday will be taken care of, and Cline will be an official residency graduate. I'm trying so hard not to rush through it all, but I am sooooo tired. I took two naps today, and it didn't make a dent in my energy level. I especially tried to remind myself that this move will be over soon when I had this conversation with the Kroger staff:
Me: Hi nice Kroger man. Since you throw away a thousand great moving boxes a day, and I am in need of a thousand great moving boxes, I was wondering how I might go about getting my hands on some of those bad boys.
Him: Call back after 10 p.m. Ask the night manager to save some for you.
Me: OK, will do. Thanks for your help.... (I purposely stay up past 11 for good measure) Hi nice night manager person. Could you save some good moving boxes for me? I can come anytime you tell me tomorrow to pick them up.
Him: Call back between 5am and 6am, and they will hold some boxes for you.
Me: You realize that is going to shave at least a good hour or to of precious, needed sleep for me, don't you?? But if that's what I need to do to get some free boxes, I am that cheap.... (I set my alarm and drag my exhausted behind to over to the phone.) Hi nice morning Kroger person, please tell me you have the greatest moving boxes ever known waiting for me to pick up.
Him: Hmmm.. I think they've all been crushed. Let me check, hold on... Um, yeah, that memo didn't get passed onto us. Call back tonight, and we'll be sure to save some for you tomorrow.
Me: You're telling me that I've called 3 times, stayed up late, and woken up early, and none of you saved my boxes for me???
And then I had this exact same conversation with the nice people at Publix. At which point, I hit the liquor stores.... and scored 3 boxes... 3 small boxes. I need a new strategy. I think it involves a credit card and a moving company.
On the bright side, my mother-in-law so kindly went to the house and checked out the new paint. She said it looks fabulous, which was a relief. When I drove to Rome to pick the color last week, the samples on the walls did not look good at all. But 3 professionals assured me that the final color would be a good one, so I trusted them. It sounds like that was a good choice!

Try a local Walmart. They are usually really good about boxes!!! I love the pictures of Christa. Especially the second picture. She's not a baby anymore, she is turning into a little girl! Time does fly! Enjoy every minute though! Can't wait for ya'll to get here and settled. Maybe we can get together midJuly? Have a wonderful weekend!
I got a TON of big, thick, heavy boxes from Shoe Carnival. The one over near Burlington seemed to have more than the one by Goody's. Good luck!
p.s. we enjoyed dinner the other night...sorry we couldn't discipline our children either, although it wasn't because they were being too cute! :-)
