Nurse. Bottle-feed. Pump. Repeat.
We're doing great, but having some nursing difficulties that are extremely time-consuming to try and correct. I'll post a longer update as soon as my baby learns how to nurse properly and my body remembers how to actually produce milk.

Not really sure what might be an appropriate remark, but good luck!! I have zero experience here, so I'll defer to all you experienced mothers. And kudos for breastfeeding! Some women up here opt for formula (and from what I've seen, the decision is made out of vanity) and I think it's nuts. Plus, I'm pretty sure science agrees with me. Have a great day and enjoy the baby and the big sister! One comment from an oldest child is that because my father had barely-competent baby skills and left my mother to do everything with my younger siblings while they were newborns, this did have a somewhat positive effect in that we did a lot of father-daughter solo activities. This prevented any (most) jealousy of my younger siblings because hiking with my dad in the hills was much better than sitting around while people stared at the baby. I think the time out with dad allowed me to appreciate my younger siblings more. Though I was still upset that with my first brother, I only got one brother and had to give up 7 or so kittens. Unfair trade is what I say. :-)
Anyhow, while I recognize your family dynamic is polar opposite from my childhood experience in that Cline is an a-mazing father and husband, I thought I'd share my 2 cents.
Oooooohhhhh... and HAPPY (almost) BIRTHDAY!
I have 2 words for you..... nipple shields. Riley didn't want to latch on at first and this worked for us. I don't know what specific kind of problem you are having, but if the problem lies with latching on and staying latched on... you may want to give them a try.
Early HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
You are doing an awesome job at working on the nursing! Thanks so much for dropping the pump off last night. Can't wait for next week to start, lol, we've had a rough week here!
Good luck Jessica and Abby Kate!... Hang in there! I'm going to call soon to set up a dinner time.
Doing the nipple sheilds, and the 8 gazillion positioning pillows, and the latching techniques... I hate them all, but they seem to be helping :) For those who are wondering, the problem is that Abby Kate was not latching on properly the first 6 days of her life. I did not realize this until I took her to the doctor. As a result, I have a very low milk supply, which doesn't make it easy for her to learn to nurse all over again now. I'm giving it my all for about a week, and if we don't have major progress, I may just have to bottle-feed this one.
Oh and Anonymous - Christa and Cline are getting lots and lots of special father/daughter time, and I agree that that is probably the reason she's adjusting so well :)
Hang in there! Gracie ended up being formula fed completely and she has turned out great. Sometimes it doesn't work out, but hopefully things will continue to go well and Abby Kate will adjust and nurse more : ) Can't wait to meet her! Love ya
