The Good: Christa is handling the recent changes in our family with style and loves, loves, loves her little sister! In fact, I seem to be more traumatized by our recent lack of time together than she is.
The Bad: I miss taking care of my big girl myself.
The Baby... doesn't seem to mind the eye-poking, cheek pinching, and rolling around on big sister's lap so far.
The Good: My lactation consultant told me to eat a high fat diet, drink no water - only caloric beverages, and eat lots of carbs. That fits in well with my normal diet.
The Bad: This advice does NOT mesh with my "I don't have time to eat right now quick weight-loss plan."
The Baby... eats constantly.
The Good: My lactation consultant told me to go to the local baby boutique and buy an expensive breast pump. I took that as permission to look around at some cutsie, fun things too.
The Bad: My husband is addicted to Dave Ramsey, so, being the respectful, obedient wife that I am, I did not make any fun purchases.
The Baby... is devastated and probably emotionally traumatized at not having the silky pink blankie I thought about buying.
The Good: I've seemed to manage a daily shower since the baby was born.
The Bad: I hear you can't "stock up" on showers, so I'm expecting a pretty smelly week around here when Cline goes back to work.
The Baby... could use a daily bath herself, but until she learns how to nurse, that's a low priority.
The Good: There are some adorable birth announcements available.
The Bad: They are really expensive if you plan to send out more than, say, five.
The Baby... doesn't know or care what her announcements look like, but that didn't stop me from breaking the Dave Ramsey rules and ordering the cute, folding cards with the printed pictures. I'm hoping I spelled everything correctly...
The Good: I have lots of clothes left over from Christa's newborn days.
The Bad: It's a lot colder here this time of year than it was in Augusta, so the sleeveless outfits just aren't cutting it.
The Baby... has been living in onesies and swaddlers as a result of the lack of clothes and lack of places around here to purchase cute baby clothes.
Well, I'm off to pump and get my 3 hours of sleep in! We're doing great around here, and the feeding thing is actually getting a little better. Have a great day!!

Jess, I have some cute onesies and gowns that Lizzy has outgrown that are more fall/wintery. Email me if you are interested in looking at any of them. I was in the middle of getting some of them ready for a consignment sale and ran out of time to get them ready to take so now they are laying out in Lizzy's room and I'd love to pick them back up : ) Can't wait o see her! I told you Christa would do fine! Love ya
Sounds like you are doing wonderful! Isn't such a relieve when you can have your body at least a little back. I was so happy to deliver and I felt amazing after so many months of being uncomfortable. I hope the breastfeeding gets better and if it doesn't don't feel too bad or be hard on yourself.
Love this post! And the picture is a-dor-a-ble!!!
I have a pretty good breast pump that I used a handful of times, if you want it. I can mail it to you.

Mary Faith is outgrowing her warm newborn items if you'd like to borrow some!
Have to love B, for telling us to eat high fat/calorie! Though I'm almost 8 weeks postpartum and still wearing maternity shorts. I fit into some prebaby clothes, but it's getting pretty depressing. I was in regular clothes at 4 weeks pp with Gracie :(
Enjoy your showers...wish I could get one...lol...maybe tonight.
Hang in there with the nursing thing- it gets better. Although it's a pain when they want to nurse all the time, remember the toddler years when you can't get them to eat ANYTHING for the whole week and it might make you appreciate the long hours feeding the baby.
Go through the clothes I gave- not a lot of winter "outfits" but tons of sleepers, gowns and some one piece outfits that don't look like pajamas- unfortunatey most places don't seem to make a lot of cute winter non-sleep looking outfits for newborns.
Glad to hear you are all adjusting well. I hope the nursing gets better, but don't beat yourself up if you have to bottle feed. I would send you clothes if I had anything girly! She probably wouldn't like wearing clothes with trucks on them. :)
