It was a completely unexciting appointment, actually. The baby's head is still high. I had a couple of friends who were 4 cm dilated by now with their second babies, so I think my expectations might be a little too optimistic. I'm between a 1 and a 2 - so disappointing. I've had some pretty significant discomfort that I was hoping might warrant some sort of intervention. No such luck. Apparently, my body just likes to have all of the annoying effects of pregnancy that make life difficult, but that nothing can be done about and must be tolerated until the baby is delivered. Plus, I'm a huge wimp.
Speaking of huge, funny story. Cline and I met his grandparents at a local restaurant for lunch the other day. I'd already eaten, so I sat down at a table while they got their food. There were two girls sitting at the table next to me. As I passed by their table, one of the girls said, "excuse me, when are you due?" I replied, "two or three weeks." She answered, "Oh, good. You see, she's (pointing to the second girl) pregnant, and was terrified that she would get that big. I was trying to reassure her that this is either your second child, or you're about ready to have the baby."
Um.... thanks for that.
Thankfully, I have some great friends who keep telling me how "adorable" I look. Nonetheless, I can't help but look around the waiting room at the doctor's office, and admire the other girls and their normal-sized feet :)

This is the sweet daughter, Gracie, of my friend, Shanda, who hosted the shower. She and Christa share the same birthday, 3 years apart.

We loved hosting the shower. It was a lot of fun!!! The pictures are great!! Hang in there...its almost time. With Lizzy, I dilated to a one and stayed that way. I had lots of pain and discomfort and I just knew that she was on her way with no such luck. They induced before I was officially one week overdue. My body does pregnancy well but doesn't seem to know how to start labor on its own : ) Hopefully Abby Kate will decide to come on her own early and let mommy have some relief. I'm thinking about you guys!! Keep me posted. Lots of love!
Hang in there! Don't worry, the dilation isn't all it's cracked up to be. I went around 4cm for weeks...nothing...talk about frustrating! My sister spontaneously went into labor one day when she wasn't even dilated. So, you never know. Oh, and don't listen to those people at the restaurant. Everyone carries differently. I felt the same way recently because there was a girl at church that was full term at the end of July and I looked bigger than her and I'm not due until January! Oh my!
And I also agree...You look great!
