Park Place

Hello all! We took advantage of the 74 degree weather in February and went to the park for the first time today. Christa thoroughly enjoyed the swing! It was a beautiful day. I made sure to get some shots of her because I'm sending my camera off to have the battery checked out tomorrow, in hopes it will be back by the time we go to the beach next month.
We've had a great couple of weeks. We enjoyed this past weekend up in Rome with both of our families. We enjoyed a couple of great meals with my parents, and on Saturday, the Jackson girls went shoe shopping. It was a fun experience, and we left Shoe-wee with some adorable white shoes. The owner was very nice, and I have a feeling we'll be seeing her often once we move back. They had a great selection of infant and children's shoes, and it was nice to be able to try the shoes on Christa. Her feet are tiny, so I seem to guess wrong at Wal-Mart. We also went to Room Service to check out car seats. I'm eyeballing big girl car seats, even though we're months away from that. She's still plenty tiny enough for her carrier. But I'm convinced she is going to grow sooner or later, and I like to look. I've been told mixed things on car seats - everything from "Buy the Britax" to "Evenflo is great and affordable" to, "Whatever you do, don't buy Evenflo." Do any of you Mommies have any advice on this?? I usually choose things like this based on how well I like the pattern. But most of the neutral patterns are pretty ugly right now, so I guess I'll have to look at things like safety and practicality :)
Well, unless anything super interesting happens in the next few days, this will probably be my post for the week. Thanks for checking in with us!

Well, you know my opinion on Evenflo- don't buy them. We use Graco for our two and soon to be three carseats. I have heard great things about Britax, but I don't know if I would spend that much money on a carseat.

Cute pics of Christa. I am glad she likes the swing!

I love the pictures! Gracie likes going to the park too! We'll have to do that on weekends once you get here for good! I think the girls would like it. Have a great weekend.

I have to agree with Kimberly! We own an evenflo carseat, and while I feel that it is safe, it has some major downfalls! Here are my two cents:

1. Car seats with large "wings" on the side are nice. They help support the child's head if they fall asleep in the car.

2. Make sure your car seat cover can come off (for washing) without requiring you to remove the carseat from the car. In order to get the cover off of our evenflo carseat we have to uninstall the seat and get out the screwdriver! We eventually bought a Graco seat for Ethan. That one works great, is very comfortable and the cover is easily removed.

Have fun shopping for a big-girl seat!

In the third picture it looks like she's giving her best impression of a 1920's east coast mafia hitman. If she could talk in an italian accent she'd have it nailed!

Jessica...I am afraid that my advice will only complicate your situation. We have owned an Evenflo Triumph for 3 years...and we love it! Jacob was really very comfortable in it. The straps adjust very easily...every time..which is great for days when he's wearing more layers. I am a bit particular about making the straps very tight. We also own 2 Britax marathons. YES, they were incredibly pricey (although I found them discounted online). My kids can stay in a 5-point harness until they are 65 lbs. That is huge to me. I admit that I am overprotective with the carseats, but I blame that on my 5 years at CHOA. Good luck in the shopping process.

I totally agree with Amy. We have an Evenflo and it is WONDERFUL. I love it and so does Riley. It was one of the more expensive ones, but well worth the money. The straps are super easy to adjust and you can tilt the seat to a number of different angles (which comes in handy if they want to sleep). It is easy to get in and out of the car, not too heavy, and the fabric is very durable. I would highly recommend one for Christa.

Yes, we live in cherokee county!! Where is the job at? Woodstock or Canton? We definately need to get together when you are here. Just let me know when that will be and I'll arrange it so I don't have to work!

We also own an Evenflo Triumph and have used it since she was very small. She still has not outgrown it and it is still my favorite car seat. I feel that she is so comfortable in it and her head does not flop all over the place when she falls asleep. I love that I can adjust it so easily to fit her at anytime since one day it could be cold (more layers of clothes) and other times it is hot. Do your own research and go try out the carseats at the store and I am sure that you will find one that will love. We did a lot of research at the time of our purchase and decided that this one was for us.
