We're Back!
Hello all! We have returned from our vacation. I can proudly say that I have survived sans internet for 4 and a half days! (And prior to that, I only briefly checked e-mail). I was eager to get back to my blogs, however, and had high aspirations of having last week's pictures and cute stories posted, along with some "Hi, remember me?" comments on all of you fellow bloggers pages. But the internet is agonizingly slow tonight, so all of that will have to wait or else I'll be sans computer after I throw this thing out the window. I have several posts worth of pictures and news, so it might take me a few days to sort it all out. Love the Easter pictures of the pages I was able to check!

Hello all! We're all feeling better this week in the Jackson household. However, pollen season has officially started as evidenced by my increasingly yellow car and my nightly hacking. We've had a fun week. We went to a friend's house for an Easter Egg Decorating playdate on Saturday and had a great time. Christa was far more interested in eating the eggs than decorating them or posing for pictures, but Mommy had fun decorating the eggs for her. We are doing laundry and packing for our vacation that's coming up this week!! Yay! We are hoping to leave for Rome on Thursday. However, the residency is having a special meeting to specifically discuss this rotation on that day, so hopefully no additional requirements will be added at the last minute. We are headed to Hilton Head with my parents next week and are very ready for a few days at the beach (and the outlet malls - Christa and I are both in need of some summer clothes:)
Christa is so funny right now. She's pretty much decided she's over her swing and bouncer, and spends most of her free time sitting on the floor playing with toys. But I think she's learning that she can't move anywhere, and doesn't have the first clue how to crawl, so she lets her frustration be known. I put her on her hands and knees and moved them for her today. She laughed and laughed, but made no effort to do it herself.
Have a great week! I'll do my best to post during our vacation, but if you don't hear from me for a while, it will be because I don't have computer access or time to download pictures.

A Tale of Two Tales
Alright, the previous post was a little misleading. I do have a sick child, and this week has been much more hectic than I'd expected. But I actually had a post typed this morning and scrapped it because I couldn't find a way to make my point without being too deep and philosophical. And I promised Cline when I started this blog that it would be strictly light-hearted updates on our family happenings. Christa is doing better this afternoon. She just has a cold or something, but it's her first real illness other than a little post-shot fever. She fussed all morning, but took a good nap and seems to be feeling better this afternoon. We're going to take it easy the rest of the day to be sure, though.
Since this morning, a couple of interesting things have happened. The first story requires a little background info, so here it is:
My post this morning, in a nutshell, was basically a little more ranting on these new rotation requirements for Cline. The workload really isn't too bad. It's just that we made some other commitments throughout the month, thinking he'd work 1 or 2 days tops and still have plenty of time to really rest and relax and enjoy some leisure activities like jogging and working out. So, things have been busier than we'd like. But we were talking the other night about it, and Cline made a great point. He said that he's going to do everything they ask of him with a smile and a cheerful attitude. He's not going to dwell on who has had to do what before now or what's fair and unfair or how he would lead things if he had a say. Instead, it appears that God has placed him in a situation to spend many hours with paramedics and fire fighters this month. And who is to say that God doesn't have a reason or purpose in Cline spending his time there?
So, back to today - Tale #1. Cline had to go to a routine conference this morning, and then to a Tactical Training session. I have no idea what a Tactical Training session is - only that it was taking away my husband for 4 hours this afternoon. Cline called about an hour after he got there and said there had been a car accident just as he was pulling up to the location where this session was to take place. A lady was pinned in her car and seriously injured. She had to be life flighted to the hospital, but hopefully will be alright. Because of the new residency requirements that I've been selfishly griping about for the past 2 weeks, Cline and 2 other Emergency Room residents were on the scene immediately. I'm glad he was there to help her instead of at home with Christa and I today.
Tale #2 - (Mom - you probably shouldn't read this one; it might inspire you to read that Jeffery Dahmer book to me again). Christa was finally playing by herself this afternoon, allowing me a few moments to change her crib sheet. As I was doing that, the doorbell rang. This is not an uncommon occurrence in our home. I immediately assumed it was the Fed-Ex lady or a neighbor dropping off some mixed up mail. I quickly looked through the peephole, and saw a young guy there. "Must be the mail," I thought, as I opened the door (alright already - so that wasn't the smartest thing I could have done. I'm gullible and don't like to be rude if I can help it). The guy seemed nice enough, but immediately went into some spiel about how he was doing a college communications project and had to talk to 50 strangers. He looked the part, but red flags went off in my mind. I may be gullible, but I am also paranoid. I didn't know what he really wanted, but I did know that Cline wasn't home, I'm pretty weak and a slow runner, and Christa wasn't going to be much help if this guy did try to pull anything. So, I suggested we talk outside since it's a beautiful day, locked the door as I grabbed Christa, and led him to the front of the building where we could both be easily seen by neighbors. Not 30 seconds later, Veno - the maintenance man - came up to us and asked to speak to the guy. I heard him say that there was no soliciting on the property and he (Veno) was pretty sure the kid had already been spoken to about this, so he could see himself through the gate. Now chances are this guy was harmless - at worst trying to swindle a few bucks from me. I didn't get far enough into the situation to find out. But I'm going down to the clubhouse later to thank Veno just in case.

Hippity Hoppity Easter's on it's Way
That's Cline in the bunny suit. I didn't want to pay for the professional bunny pictures (you heard that right - be proud:), so I snuck in my own afterwards. They're complete with my own copyrights! All I can say is thank goodness for digital photography. I took hundreds of pictures today, and have narrowed my favorites to 50 or so! 
The weather was crazy at the Easter Egg Hunt this morning. Sunny one minute and hail the next. It was a bit chilly and windy, but we had fun anyway. Cline spent the whole time having the bunny pictures made with the other kids, and Christa and I spent the whole time taking our own pictures. Now we just need some chocolate for Thursday, March 6, 2008
A Growing Girl
Good morning all! My mom took these pictures over the weekend. The weather has been beautiful here! People keep talking about this record-cold winter we've had, but I don't see it. I feel like I've been waiting for winter to get here, since we've all been in short sleeves every other week (or so it seems anyway). We went to Rome for a long weekend, and had a great time. We spent some time walking around our soon-to-be new neighborhood and met a couple of our neighbors. They seem very nice, and there seem to be a good many kids on our street, so I'm extra excited!
Christa is now cutting her top teeth. She had a rough weekend getting one of them through, but she's been fine since then. She is sitting up like a pro, now and pulling her legs up when she's on her tummy. Apparently, all you have to do to get your kid moving on the milestones is blog about it :) I put away her boppy last night (sniff, sniff), and Cline lowered her crib mattress.
Cline's new rotation isn't too bad so far. He's got most of the stuff he's supposed to do scheduled, and it worked out at convenient times. They may add a project here or a lecture there, but at least he doesn't have to work nights or weekends for the month! We're looking forward to another trip to Rome and a few days in Hilton Head at the end of the month!
Well, that's all of our news for now. We're going to an Easter Egg hunt on Saturday morning, so if I get some good pictures, I'll post them over the weekend. Speaking of Easter, has anyone else started looking for an Easter outfit? I have about 4 to choose from for Christa, but couldn't find a single thing for myself when I went to look yesterday. The only dresses I could find were these silky, flowy dresses with a lot of black and wild patterns - the ones like you see on What Not to Wear. I got one, because I really liked the dress, and it was cheap ($22 at Ross; then I saw virtually the exact same one at Macy's for $98). But I'm not convinced it's Easter appropriate because it's black and white and blue (a darker blue, not a pastel blue). All I could figure is that since Easter is so early this year, the Spring lines haven't caught up yet?? Or everyone else is going to be wearing these darker dresses since that's the style this year?? Or that was the style in the fall and winter, and I'm going to look like an idiot wearing it in the spring??
